I have nothing but respect for someone who admits a problem and attacks it head on, not many people can do that. Despite the addiction it seems like you have a good head on your shoulders and know exactly what you should be doing. Just remember that when it gets really rough, it's only temporary and will pass. Sending some good vibes your way.

Nobody is going to take you seriously here when you use shit like "SWIM". It'll get you nowhere in court.

  1. You'll only find out by going to pick up the envelope
  2. Regular letter mail, or a different kind of envelope? It's not unheard of to sign for packs at the post office.

Downloading and flashing Tails to USB, then booting from it is your best bet. But there have been reports of this not working properly with some Apple products, you'll have to try yourself.

Electrum confirms BTC transfer to helix but payment not showing on helix? by [deleted] in DarkNetMarketsNoobs

You got incredibly lucky, people have done the same with much larger amounts. The important thing to take away here is to always fact check.

Electrum confirms BTC transfer to helix but payment not showing on helix? by [deleted] in DarkNetMarketsNoobs

[–]MLP_is_my_OPSEC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

grams7enufi7jmdl.onion/helix is the one and only link to Grams iirc, /u/gramsadmin could correct me on this. The site from your source doesn't even load. I'd say you got scammed.

Take this as a lesson to get links only from trusted sources, and always cross reference other sources. I got the above link from https://reddit.com/r/darknetmarkets/wiki/superlist, but you can also use the following sites to compare links.

https://dnstats.net/
https://www.deepdotweb.com/2013/10/28/updated-llist-of-hidden-marketplaces-tor-i2p/

I'd also recommend staying away from anything calling itself the "hidden tor/onion wiki", anyone can edit those and add or replace links with their own.

You'll be just fine with that setup. VPN isn't really necessary imo if you're purchasing personal amounts, but look into Mullvad and NordVPN if you're still wanting to use one.

If the order was escrow, only you can finalize the order. Does the order say it was finalized or confirmed/accepted? If it does say finalized, contact AB support.

it increases the likelihood as I wrote [in my opinion].

That's what I'm saying though, your opinion shouldn't have much weight in this. You're supposed to help benefit the community, and many of the upvoted top level posts in this thread are reflecting the same things myself and other members are trying to say.

to be honest since sam made a suggestion to replace the long old text in the submission box with the 4 short sentences, it have been fewer sourcing threads that I had to remove [take this with a grain of salt because it is just my personal impression].

I'm glad you guys managed to figure out a way to curb that without removing information, makes your jobs a lot easier.

it would be one click away and would not increase the risk of getting phished.

That's not what I'm arguing. Removing the link provides no benefit to the user. It does not keep them safe. It does not keep them informed. It takes away one of few reputable sources of links to make comparisons to.

alphabay is by far the absolute worst market I have ever seen and it is a complete shit show, but if you want to use despite all the signs, go ahead. I guess the users have to get burned again once in a while because they tend to forget the past.

You're letting your bias influence your decisions. Users get burned all the time, and 90% of the time it's because they weren't well informed. Scams, OPSEC failures, and the like are the nature of the current beast. You can't baby people and expect them to be able to discern what's good versus wrong.

Control the media and you control the masses. by 420NSWGreat in DarkNetMarkets

It's interesting how even farther it's been pushed today. Not only do we have editorialized headlines and articles written by "journalists" with an obvious agenda, we're blasted with distractions in the form of ads, gossip, and information that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. All in the name of greed.

There was an image on the front page of /r/all a few hours ago, iirc. From the 1917 spring Russian Revolution, and it was a celebratory post comparing the Woman's March to that. It's amazing to me that some people know so little about history, and just dismiss it as boring. There are some scarily accurate comparisons to be made today, and if we don't learn from history we're doomed to repeat it.

they will have to read the text that is under the alphabay entry [which includes the warnings and how to get the links safely]. if we owuld still list them, many would ignore the warnings and steps how to cross check the links and just copy the link from the superlist.

Making users jump over another hurdle to get to the Alphabay link wont make them read and take in the warnings. How many threads are still being removed by you guys, even though users have to scroll to the bottom of a text box and click a link to make sure they've read the rules?

it is. but if a market fucks up so badly and so many times we need to discuss if it still deserves the spot on there.

Exactly, it needs to be discussed. It's a serious fuck up. But this is a community of information, your role is to make sure this information stays within the rules of the subreddit and reddit as a whole. It's to make sure your users stay informed and know how to verify information on their own. Removing them from the superlist is removing information, and it's the exact opposite of what you guys are supposed to be doing.

Then you've done what you needed to be done. I thank yourself and the other mods for putting up posts like this, it requires a lot of effort and teamwork. I just strongly suggest not removing Alphabay as it provides the user with zero benefit.

Why not include cross checking links in the header of the superlist? Write up a small bit about always checking links by comparing with other sources, then provide those sources.

  • Reports should be taken seriously regardless of an accounts age or reputation. Impact of a mistake shouldn't matter either, a mistake is a mistake. Especially when we're messing around with felonies here.

  • BTC Fog and AB are two different services offering two different things. That's comparing apples to oranges. Regardless I'd bet most of the people here know both of them by name.

  • It should not be your place to judge whether one mistake or misdeed is greater than the other. While I agree that Alphabay should be doing something about this, it is part of a mods job to keep everyone informed. Removing them from the superlist does nothing to help anyone.

Second this, so add two more. Having links in multiple places is a good thing, gives users something to compare alternate sources with. Removing the link from the superlist and telling users to get it elsewhere doesn't help the user and doesn't keep them safe. It's a false sense of security.

Safety & Security Saturday! by AutoModerator in DarkNetMarkets

[–]MLP_is_my_OPSEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Usually not talked about how often they're switched up, but I'd assume it's done at least every batch of packs. Return address shouldn't be fake.

  2. Be creative with a decoy. I'd be asking for more money depending on what the decoy costs. Make it look legitimate.

  3. Keep all of your darknet shenanigans confined to one device, if possible. This'll be my second time recommending a cheapish Thinkpad. Install a Linux host OS for clearnet, and create a VM to run on top of that. I wouldn't recommend linking any BTC that you've earned from vending to your real identity though.

Safety & Security Saturday! by AutoModerator in DarkNetMarkets

[–]MLP_is_my_OPSEC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone uses the federal postal system since it's the safest option. All vendors package their products differently, and talking about it is frowned upon. The size of the pack depends on what amount you get.

Nobody should be using fake return addresses. PO box is fine. Vendor stealth isn't and shouldn't be talked about.

Anything that can boot from USB will work fine. Dealers should be wary about hardware inside the machine though. I always recommend older Thinkpads. They're cheap, well built, and work just fine.
